Some friends have echoed my sentiments while others have been less then supportive. In this political climate we need usher out those that “lead the youth” and assist actual youth leaders.

The difference between the two in my view is somewhat complex so I’ll do my best to explain the difference. Those that “lead youth” are usually not chosen by the same youth driven population, but rather are chosen by their supposed “birthright”, whereas youth leader start out as community activists then they showcase exceptional leadership skills that propel them to leadership positions within youth driven organizations and programs. Secondly those that “lead youth” talk constantly of how long they have been active in youth driven organizations when in actuality it would serve them and the organization they represent better if they discuss what new programs and membership driven events they created.

Thirdly youth leaders stand firmly behind what they believe in and don’t hide behind any kind of alias, when they have an opportunity to give their opinion. Those that “lead youth” put politics before programming, and denounce and degrade actual youth leaders, when they too could be working hard to activate other youth in youth driven organizations. That’s bring up another point, those that “lead youth” focus on activating via checkbooks and not activating via the mind, what I mean is yes youth driven organizations are sustained by fund raising, but even more important is a membership that gains knowledge from attending events and programs that stimulate the mind to the point that those events are not easily forgotten.

Lastly those that “lead youth” create splinter youth driven organizations solely on the basis of having a “failing out” with actual youth leader’s and rather then building bridges and a common ground to better sustain the youth movement, they continually dissolve any level of connectivity to that other youth driven organization. In conclusion, its really simple anyone within an earshot of this message has to decide are they going to “lead youth” or are they going to buckle down, get your hands dirty and be a youth leader!

Dick Gregory at State of Black Union 08 Pt.1

Leaders in education, public policy, religion, and black communities discussed the state of the Black Union in America. type='text'>You not really one of us

I've just about had it with those in the disabled community not raising a voice about this, so let me be the first. Those of you that think it's "ok" to buck the system and use the avenue's made available to the disabled is simply disingenuous. Parking in a handicap space because it's "closer" to your destination and you happen to be a little bit bigger, does not give you the right to park there, and then when you pull out a motorized cart or wheelchair, that's hardly justification for you to use that spot. Before those parking spaces, the disabled community had to use regular parking spaces, and even though those spaces were further away we still survived. Why don't you do the smart thing and donate that scooter or wheelchair to those that need it more, and use those muscles in your legs and walk to your destination, rather then parking in a spot that has never been designated for you. I don't want to h hear the argument that "eating" is a chronic disorder hence your waist size, because it takes just as much energy to close the refrigerator, as it does to open it looking for something to eat. I know it might take a lot for this movement to start, but maybe would stop avoiding this issue, and actually rase some hell about it things will change.
The Oprah Factor

I know I'm a week late in posting about this, but better late then never. It's seems like as soon as one of the biggest names in american culture endorses a presidential candidate the the political world gets turned on it's head. Oprah has been a staunch supporter of Barack Obama for quite some time, so when she came out last week in Iowa to stump on his behalf no one was surprised. While it's obvious Oprah brings some of her base demographic to the Obama campaign, that doesn't justify other campaigns calling her "reverse uncle tom" and "satan". I equate this bickering to the "Rat Pack era" in Las Vegas in that if you shook any of the Rat Pack's hands there were certain things you just didn't do. With all the talk of campaign "transparency" in terms of donations, I think that same level of transparency should be carried onto the communications portion of campaigns as well, that way with all different forms of communications in the voting public's eye, none of these events will repeat. We all know that every election cycle campaign mudslinging occurs and on it's many levels it can and has broken many campaigns in the past and will continue to until candidate's and their staff understand the the best way to get elected is to focus on getting elected and the issues facing that community and not cutting at the knee's of a candidate in your same parties primary election.

Immaturity

Some people just can't let things go. I don't pride myself on helping others, because I believe that form of help should come naturally. Sometimes it an be unexpected, but that doesn't mean you shun the help when it's given. I helped you achieve some of your recent success, I slip up once, I apologize to you and rather then accepting that apology and moving on to this day three and a half years later you still hold ill will towards me. When I slipped up it's not as if I defamed your character, or demoralized your background. The simple fact that three years after our misunderstanding you still harbor ill will shows me how immature yo actually are, I can't believe I used to give you kudos' and accolades because I saw a lot of the same passion and drive i have in you. I now you were raised better then to hold consistent grudges maybe you should start adhering to those morals, and refrain from cutting off people that actually want to see you succeed.

Getting to know your State Officals

a month old video still necessary!

you learn something new every day

After watching the Youtube Republican debate, I can honestly say I have never been so awestruck in pure lack of common sense in my life. How hypocritical is it to say the democrats are out for blood, when every other sentence from a republican candidate happens to be some level of an attack on each other? While I understand the whole idea of "staying true to your convictions", that doesn't mean you get a free pass to skip around an answer from a retired general. Ron Paul had this idea that by removing the Department of Education, and Homeland Securtiy government spending would be cut in half. So basically the same department that oversees all levels of education but leaves regulation to the state departments of education should not exist in this candidate's eyes. Duncan Hunter who "waffled" on their answer to the retired general continually complimented the general on his service and never even answered his question. None of these candidates even remotely stood out to me as a viable threat to whomever the democrats select because they were more concerned with pandering to themselves. For the record though, when you hear more boo's then cheer's from your supposed "base" I think that would be a great time to shut the hell up! When Rudi Guiliani was asked what is his camapign platform outside of 9/11, he mentioned 9/11 as many times as he said platform, which is really scary when you think about it. Let's see what comes out of Iowa in a few weeks......

My intentions....

A lot could be said for my actions in terms of dating as of late. Some that know me well enough, could say that not to long ago I went about dating the same way I did in high school, asking out every single woman within an earshot of me asking. Maybe I thought then what I know for fact now, I have a lot of offer if given the chance. While I'll admit asking a lot of people out on a date, might seem a little presumptuous, maybe I wanted company to take in the night life. No one is perfect, and I'm far from perfection, all I ask for is a chance, give this brother a chance!!

Why I do the things I do

I was told by someone recently that I am very resourceful when it comes to delivering information. Why is it then that certain people show envy, when I deliver that information when they can't? Does the envy mechanism in their brain go off as soon as the right information is given? To be frank, I'm sorry I can deliver when you can't, I'm sorry you didn't come up with the information first, maybe you should step up your "collecting information" game. I'm not going to call anybody out, because that beneath me, and to be honest if I did they wouldn't change their inept attitude. If you can deliver the goods, when they are needed, cry me a river, and move on, your envy only makes you look like an idiot.

Blogging again

For those that were anticipating my blog comeback, it's here!
